Ok ... I'm having a good laugh at my choice of music. I've shared Hamlet with so many people around the world and introduced them to the brilliance that William Shakespeare was and is through the variety of music genres I've chosen. But this one takes the cake I think and I hope you enjoy my taking a humorous dig at myself.
Speaking of Dig ... I've been sharing my Hamlets on Digg and am looking for another place to host them as well, so I can clean up my computer of files when I found Hamlet 56. I liked it, the movement and intensity (I didn't used to like it) ... so I decided to raise the volume intake level and make my stage a bit larger. I wish I had found this higher back lighting earlier in my project...

TIM MALONEY HAMLET 365 ... Shaktim's Hamlet 363 'Introducing Coco'

So you have seen Coco on my Channel page and you have even heard her before in the background of some of my TAKES, but now you get to meet her. She is my 11 year old rescue pom. I'm very blessed to have known her and the great joy she brings to the people she meets.
In this TAKE, You get an insight into my Meisner background with the repetition I do towards the end of the rendering. I've studied many different techniques along the way, first at AMDA, NYC, where I studied with Elizabeth Browning. She posed this question to me: 'If you want to be an actor, you must bring your improv down from fake universes...' Yes, my partner and I were placing our exercise on another planet. ha. I can laugh now, but at the time, I was transfixed with the idea that I could not act and that I was destined to be a Chorus boy singer who could almost move pretty well. While I was in Grad School for Opera several years later, I got to work with Michael Richie at Florida State University. He was amazed how still I could be and how long I would take to answer a line... I don't think the other actors appreciated it, but at the time, I was pressed to be as honest as I possibly could because, in fact, I had that little lady in the back of my head saying I could not act. From there, I landed a chorus role and assistant stage management position at the Metropolitan Playhouse in NYC. I was blessed to be working with amazing actors who also thought the characters I was playing (5 and under lines) were good... and they were with an Irish accent even. I got bold and took a Shakespeare for film class with at the Worth Street Theatre. I played Romeo in a scene as well as learned my All the Worlds a Stage and Be absolute for Death soliloquies. From there I got even bolder and pursued the Artists' Way. My crazy dream was to be in a Soap Opera. I took a Casting Director workshop and in just a few weeks time I was a surgeon in one of the last shows of the short lived 'The City', Soap Opera, on ABC. The check that came told me everything I needed to know about where I was going. OUT to Hollywood to get on a sitcom so I could come Back to Broadway as a celebrity. Dial forward ... Having lived through Aids Dementia and Wasting, I re-emerged stronger, livelier and with gratitude that has brought me to this point. Celebrating Life by putting my dreams into Action. I look forward to a long career of what ever it is that God wants me to do. The statement of Hamlet 365 will have a life of it's own. It is not who I am. It has been a part of my evolution as an artist and I am thankful for the inspiration to create it ... I give All Thanks to God !!!

I'm watching a Spanish channel tonight as I write this blog. Its a Futbol game. It makes me think:
Acting is a lot like Futbol. With each Kick of the ball, With each rendering of a scene or monologue or moment, we move forward with hope of winning. The win for an actor comes in many ways from the most personal experience of triumph in living in the moment so completely and freely, that you forget what happened. The danger for an actor is physically just as competitive as it is for a sportsman. We ARE Olympians too!!!

If you ever question that, just look at one actor taking on an entire Shakespearean role, line for line ... the mental dexterity involved is monumentous. Of look at an Opera Singer and what it takes, the wear and tear on the body, to produce the tone required. Of a Broadway Star belting up into stratospheres that just a quarter of a century ago were unheard of. Thats the common bond between ALL Artists, ALL human beings who have that spark of a dream that propels them to get better and better at what they do. And we do, don't we. We KEEP breaking human records ... in ALL activities ... how blessed we are to be a divinely created spark of All that is ...

Hamlet 358 'The Way I Work'

'm excited for this TAKE to share some insights into my project. Some of the good and bad things as an actor that I am trying to break free of. I've really enjoyed watching this project unfold virally through the world wide web and know that if I am hitting 50 plus pages of google searches just in two years... the explosion of the content I've shared is just going to continue to grow. Its a way for me to establish myself as an actor with a drive and a willingness to make a fool of myself as well as touching some golden moments, both personally, and on screen. When all is said and done, my original goal to 'infect my face upon the world wide web' (which was a tim maloney 'funny' moment) ... and completely kidding. But who really knew that this is what can happen.

Back to the acting. What more can I say? I prefer the stage for classical theatre and can't wait to be Directed again... that is if a Director will ever want to touch me after seeing me in this project. You can visit some of my Student films and see the difference from how I work on a set as opposed to working on a multitude of levels for this project, both in regard to camera work as an actor and as a director, the lighting and as a cinematographer, the framing of the action. It was all complicated and I hope you enjoy as you browse and play skip around Hamlet... just what it is that I have manifested. Blessings to all who have stuck with me and to a handful who have watched a LOT of my Hamlets. You guys kept me going ... you know who you are, but if you don't ... an actor prepares...One of my best explorations...but a little sing songy...and I'm learning a great deal from listening...holding on to verbs...maybe I can choose just a few verbs instead of every single one. Why I called it Jim Carrey Channeling? I don't know...It just has this other worldly, beyond Method approach to it that reminds me of the outrageous passion that Jim Carrey Explodes onto a scene with in his characters. I suppose my favorite Character Actor would have to be Jim Carrey. I am happy to share that I am now represented by a Commercial Agent and am still seeking representation for a Theatrical Agent. My goal is to be on a Series this year. perhaps a Dramedy.

This was my first TAKE back from seeing Jude Law play Hamlet in NYC. I was moved and inspired by Jude bringing such a warmth and humor to his Hamlet. He was certainly well received by the audience and I think every moment that brought some 'lightness' to the story was well directed.

Its taken me a long time to put this TAKE up because I played around with the editing, finding some new ways to bring out the light and darkness.

OK... I am going to leave the first one on, but this is re-edited with Joe Cools advice that the volume was on the low side. I decided to put it through garage band on my iMac... you can tell a big difference in my simple ADR work. I've been in the entertainment industry since I was a kid and getting paid for singing since I was 18. Its been quite a journey and in all honesty, I never had pictured myself as a film actor, not until I was given a check for a 5 and under on a Soap I did in NYC and said, 'NO WAY' ... I'm going to LA to get on TV. Ha. And 10 years later, after a several year hiatus due to an illness that nearly took me out for good, I have a couple more soaps, a National Mercedes Commercial and a handful of Shorts making their way around the festival circuits as well as a really fun time with some great up and coming directors in all of my student films. And now I have this YouTube project, Hamlet 365, which has been recognized in a documentary in the UK. My first 'description' or 'blog' made the claim of my dream to be in a Shakespeare Play. It took exactly one year and 3 months to have that dream come true. I played King Duncan recently in Circus Theatricals workshop production of Macbeth at The Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles. And now I'm nearing the end of my Hamlet Project and hope to work with Geoffrey Owens to bring my last 'grouping' of Hamlets into their full power. I Do have a dream to play Hamlet and had the pleasure to do so for a Student Film at UCLA. I look forward to the future when Directors and Producers hire me from this trip I've made to share with youtube ONE Actor, ONE Monologue, ONE Journey through Stanislavski's Method ...

One man's journey to become a film actor... sharing with YouTubers what it is like to create a character. My journey to bring my dream to fruition comes from a well traveled life of many trials, successes and failures. It was my dream when I saw Oprah have the YouTube STARS on her show... to fulfill a wild fantasy I had to be in a Shakespeare Play. In just one year, I've made that come true when I won the role of King Duncan, in Macbeth with my acting company, Circus Theatricals. And before that I was chosen as one of the dozen YouTube Hamlets to be featured in a Documentary in the UK that aired on Christmas Day. Out of my exploring this ONE soliloquy, I came up with the phrase, 'Dreams are Made of Action' ... because in my limited understanding of YouTube and viral uploading, I knew that by marketing myself this way, I was bound to be discovered at some point. I would like to be an inspiration to others to follow their dreams ... even through the limitations that life presents us through illness and change. 

my change has come in actually following through with my commitment to share 365 TAKES of HAMLET. Living with an undiagnosed bi-polar for the first 39 years of my life, I seldom was able to have successful ventures without messing up somehow or another. The love and passion I have for creating art is what keeps me doing what I do and then there is Yogic Science, that literally Saved my Life... I hope you enjoy and help me achieve my goal of Sharing with Oparh what makes Shaktim an inspirational LIFE !!!

I'm sharing a personal moment I was blessed to experience on my last day in India last year. I was invited to sit next to my host brothers' adopted son, Anise, during his wedding. It was an honor to share with them in that day and in all of the days that they so generously opened their home and hearts to share with me.

I want to reach out to the world in this crises and try to share that I have been loved by a Muslim family in India and am still loved by them. They have taught me a Shanti (peaceful) way of living, in ELLORA, INDIA. I honor them with this message for peace... the best way I know how, through my art.

So the question is answered in this way. Shaktim is a hindi name for PEACE. I am a yogic Scientist and I am on a mission to share the bliss of breathing with intention. Something that Every Human being is entitled to. The Air we Breathe. Recognizing the molecules for being the God Consciousness that they are. We are a vessel. Fill yourself with peace each and every breath that you take. It is a simple philosophy yet profoundly difficult to understand. The yogis understood it... The Quantum Physicists Understand it. NOW its time for RELIGIONS to UNDERSTAND IT. WE WERE CREATED by GOD to Embody HIS essence !!!

I like this TAKE because I have been with Jack now for a couple of months and I think his technique (one of them) of asking What? from moment to moment, was beginning to be answered in this rendering. What is it like for an actor to work out TEXT ? Some new questions arise as I am beginning to learn some valuable lessons about acting. Being in the moment that exists as one trusts in the play. I feel as an actor I have always generalized the work that I've done and mostly just placed emotion on top of the text, my own personal agenda of fears and emotional life, being the enormous well of angst that I own. Stanislavski said that 'Generalization is the enemy of art'... Jack believes that the more you are clear on what you, as the character, are doing, the less you need to load why... so in the background work that you do... it is not brought to the moment... it is the circumstance of the life of the character... but knowing what you are doing in the moment of speaking the text... this is what I am now working on... I hope you enjoy my adventure into becoming a professional actor and one that is not just acting by accident. This TAKE is immediately after one of my classes with Jack Stehlin and his Master Class at The Odyssey Theatre ... http://www.circustheatricals.com.As you can see, I am beginning to shift my awareness on camera from a presentation state... to a moment to moment awareness of my breath and the text and where that is taking me... taking longer pauses when the impetus to speak is not there... For the most part, even with the Stripped Green shirt, I successfully rendered this TAKE with out my 'head' coming in to take me out of the moment... The TAKES you will see in the next dozen or so TAKES that I upload will illustrate more fully, the steps I am taking to 'Own Shakespeares' Words' ... I thank you for following me on my journey of self discovery with a role that I always felt was FAR away from my grasp... But now, feel that with a Shakespeare Glossary in hand ... and my well schooled brain on How to Stress from Geoffrey Owens... that I will indeed succeed in making my CRAZY dream a REALITy...

Hamlet 365 Shaktim...The Hamlet of YouTube Part 1 

Welcome to my experiment! Shakespeares' Hamlet, from Tim Maloney...Shaktim, The Hamlet of YouTube. This playlist is dedicated to one actor taking one monologue, or in this case, a soliloquy from Hamlet, arguably one of the most famous of all of Shakespeare's plays and offering YouTubers a unique insight into what its actually like for an actor to 'Work out a Character' using repetition as part of the rehearsal process. I am committed to offering 365 takes of this one monologue and hope you will continue sending me emails with your thoughts and feelings and critiques. I've discovered another reason to make this statement, besides the obvious of marketing my talents to begin a professional film and tv career and that is to inspire people to persevere and follow their dreams, their bliss. My bliss is performing Characters and entertaining. Oprah inspired me to do just that... and becoming a Shakespearean Actor has been a dream of mine ever since I realized that I had a naturally, yet uncanny ability to understand his words.
