So I get this email out of the blue on YouTube that asks for my permission to share a bit of one of my Hamlet Takes for a Documentary on Shakespeare airing on Christmas Day in the UK. I'm like, what? Are you kidding? Of course... take any one you like. Then I think about it. And I read their website and it talks about witty and I'm like, "oh... they want to make fun of my Hamlet". So I write the producer and explain that I'm a comedy guy and being made fun of would be just as cool as being taken seriously. I mean, who am I to think I could pull off a professional version of Hamlet? I'm just a singer trying to become a working actor.
Then I get a new email from the guy and he says, no Tim, we want your serious, heartfelt version. Whew ! ... I was very happy. But then I thought about what my new acting teacher told me when he said that at this point in the play Hamlet might not have as much 'emotion/vulnerability' as I was playing him with. Needless to say, I have sent the package of teary eyed Hamlets to the UK and now it is up to them whether they use one or not. Here is a little promo they have on their website:

Whats it like to play the great Shakespearean roles? This forthcoming documentary film will accompany a season of classic Shakespeare performances on Channel 4 and is due to be transmitted on Christmas Day 2008.

To Be Or Not To Be In Shakespeare will explore the human realities of taking on these iconic parts. Seneca Productions is in the process of interviewing some of the nations most celebrated interpreters of Shakespeare in what we hope will be a witty and revealing exploration of the agonies and the ecstasies of playing the Bard. The result will be an engaging insight into the greatest dramatic writer ever born, by some of the people who have gotten to know him best the actors who have spent huge swathes of a lifetime playing his roles.

So, with that said, I am very happy to have been included in this project... if I make it on the editing room floor, thats ok, cause it was an honor just being asked. With that, I say goodnight and I leave you with HOPE !!! for the future when I make it back home, from whence I came, starring on Broadway, in Beach Blanket Bingo !!!
